Unfortunately Dingley Village has few properties of historical significance.  However, we do have many photographs of homes built by our early pioneers.  A large number of these homes have gradually been replaced with modern properties.

Did you know that in the early days, there was no mail delivery, or even street addresses?  Mail was addressed to the nearest Post Office, and that was generally the one located in Heatherton.

The cannery opened by the Gartside’s in 1916 operated until 1966 when it was demolished to make way for housing.  The site of the cannery is now commemorated by Cannery Place, off Centre Dandenong Road.

If you have any information or photographs you would like to share, please contact the Society. It would be helpful to provide any relevant names, dates, context etc.
